Some individuals appear to have lost their NFTs as a result of the bogus mint link that the hackers sent out.
Discord and Instagram accounts were compromised
On Monday, BAYC's Discord and Instagram accounts were hacked, and the hackers used a bogus mint link to obtain access to the followers' wallets.
“There is no mint going on today. It looks like BAYC's Instagram was hacked. Do not mint anything, click links, or link your wallet to anything,” BAYC tweeted.
The hackers enticed customers with a fake mint link that claimed they could mint land in the company's OthersideMeta, which is slated to launch this week.
The attack was launched on the users who clicked on the mint link. These users' wallets were also hacked, with hackers gaining access to their accounts and transferring assets, including NFTs, to various wallets.
Zachxbt, a crypto detective, generated a map showing the hacker's address and tweeted about it.
At the time of writing, an estimated 24 Bored Apes and 30 Mutant Apes have been stolen. According to their floor price, the stolen NFTs are worth roughly $13.7 million.
4 BAYC, 7 MAYC, 3 BAKC, 1 CloneX, and other NFTs (91 NFTs) have been taken, according to Zachxbt's claims. The figures aren't exact; they seem to be far higher than what has been stated.
The matter has been discussed by a BAYC cofounder, who stated that the team would contact the impacted users. He also noted that a detailed post-mortem report on the assault would be provided soon.
He emphasized that the Instagram account had 2FA activated and that the security processes were strict. It appears like the Instagram and Discord servers were hacked somehow, which is still unclear.
